Tesco Community Grant Giving
Kaleidoscopic UK are delighted to thank Tesco, customers for voting for us with their blue tokens and Louise Jedras, community champion at the Finchampstead Road Superstore. We were presented a cheque for £1,000 to go towards our Family Freedom Fund which will buy camping equipment so that clients and their families can enjoy a holiday.
The money came courtesy of Tesco’s Community Grants scheme, which awards funds to organisations that make a positive difference to their communities.
Vickie Robertson, who founded Kaleidoscopic UK in 2019 after experiencing childhood and adult domestic abuse, said: “On behalf of the hundreds of children and families who will now be supported with every camping gadget needed to have an incredible holiday that they truly deserve, we are so grateful for this money.
“Most of our clients are subjected to either financial or economic difficulty, on top of a cost-of-living crisis, making holidays a rarity for them.
“The camping equipment will enable our clients and their families to enjoy a break in nature, to relax, create happy memories and bond. We provide this without any expense for families, because the equipment can be very costly with a family of four averaging spending 2 thousand pounds to get all the gear needed.
“So thank you, Tesco Community Grants. We think the scheme is amazing and does so much for those in the community.”
Louise Jedras said: “It really is a pleasure to give this money to Kaleidoscopic UK, whose work is so important to so many people rebuilding their lives.
“The services they provide – delivering training, hope and support – has already helped many people in recent years and will help many more for years to come.”
The Tesco Community Grants scheme is run in partnership with the Groundwork charity.
Graham Duxbury, Groundwork’s UK Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Tesco to provide these much-needed funds, which will help to support communities.”
