Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley Stakeholder Visit
Here’s what the PPC had to say about our recent meeting with them..
.. It was down to Berkshire for the PCC today to visit another two organisations that have benefitted from his Community Fund. In Wokingham, the PCC met with the team at Kaleidoscopic UK. Kaleidoscopic UK provides free survivor-led support to children and adults who have been subjected to, or exposed to, any form of domestic abuse.
The charity received £6905 in the October 2023 round of the Community Fund to support their Liberation from Abuse programme. The nine-week course covers all areas of abuse including physical, emotional, financial, sexual and coercive control, the signs and effects.
The survivor-led sessions are available to anyone who is experiencing, or has experienced, any form of domestic abuse to help victim-survivors identify abusive behaviours, understand trauma and trauma responses and teach them useful tools to help break the cycle of abuse.
“Domestic abuse is one of the hidden crimes, that many of us do not see, yet devastates lives and now makes up a huge proportion of police work. Last week I caught up with Kaleidoscopic UK, the fantastic Wokingham based charity who do so much to support victims of abuse and control. I’ve provided funding for their Liberation programme and it was great to meet some of the women who have benefitted as a result.” Matthew Barber – Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley
